Alms.

In Luanprabang Laos, the monks came for their alms every morning.

The most of them are on their late teens.
They bring bowls, and people donate sticky rice and money and so on.

Young monks go to high school during daytime.
As monks, they can go to senior high school.
I had a chance to talk with young monks.
They speaks good English, surprisingly better than Japanese high school students.

The last day in Laos, I joined the donating people.
I bought sticky rice, and sit on a mat.
There are four hundred monks,
so I put sticky rice in each bowl little by little.
And that's enough,
because there are many people offering sticky rice.

Elephant riding

In Laos, I enjoyed elephant riding. It was very comfortable. I could have good view because the elephants were tall. They looked very clever and gentle.

Weaving experience in Laos

In February, I went to Laos with my friend.
There are many hand woven textiles in Laos.
I was fascinated in those textiles.
One day I experienced weaving.

It's my piece.

The Cheshire cat

Today, I met the Cheshire cat of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland at the park.

Hawaiian Birds

In Hawaii, I saw many birds. Under the  trees with flowers, I could listen birds's singing.
Maybe, most of them I saw are common in Hawaii.

Red Junglefowl I think they are wild chicken introduced from Kauai Island.
I like to watch chicken walk around in countryside.

Spotted Dove  They are smaller than Japanese Dove.

White Dove

House Sparrow

Brazilian Cardinal

 Cattle Egret

Zebra Dove

Pacific Golden Clover

Hawaiian Honey

We went to KK Farmer's Market in Hawaii Community College on Saturday morning. They sell many kinds of vegetable, fruit, flower, sweet and honey. I am interested in bee keeping. So I bought honey. Honey are packed in bear shaped containers. Hawaiian honey are gathered from tropical flowers such as macadamia nuts and Christmas berry.
The owner of this honey shop keeps bees by himself.
He kindly offered to show me his place of beekeeping the next time I come to Hawaii.

Arizona Memorial

We  went to Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. From there, we joined the tour to visit Arizona Memorial by ship. USS Arizona Memorial was built above the sunken battleship Arizona for the memory of the dead by the surprise attack by Japan at the beginning of Pacific War.

From the memorial we can see another battleship Missouri. On the deck of that ship, Japan signed the surrender at the end of the Pacific War.

Hanauma Bay Preserve in Hawaii

It's Hanauma Bay in Hawaii. As the bay is a volcanic crater, the sea is very calm.
We swam and watched many kinds of tropical fish and coral.

Hana will stay at home alone.

We are leaving for Hawaii Tomorrow, coming back home one week later. We asked our friend to come and care for her as much as possible. Hana is not a cat to be friendly with a new person or a new place, so we have no choice but to leave her alone. Hopefully, she will sleep so much and have not enough time to feel lonely.

My cat, Hana.

She is my cat, Hana.
She is thirteen years old.
She is not young, so she sleeps almost all day.
Her left eye is blue, and her right eye is brown.
She likes dried bonito.
As she limps a little, she can't jump as before now.

WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT RUNNING

I think I am one of HARUKISTs. Now I am reading "WHAT I TALK ABOUT WHEN I TALK ABOUT RUNNING" By this book, I know his way of thinking. He has run for 6 miles a day ever since he was thirty when he started writing. His way is keeping distance from worldly things, and keeps his pace by running. He is rare to appear on TV. I like his way to keep concentrating on his goal.

My tool is my bicycle.

One of my favorites is nature watching. The important tool for nature watching is my bicycle. But I turned over from my bicycle, and injured my face last November. There was a big bruise on my right cheek just after that. And my Zios blue bicycle was broken. Now it's OK. My face is almost recovered, and I have got a new bicycle.
